The layout of the building is fully integrated with the site's characteristics. The building site is divided by the water system into two extended east-west areas to revitalise the use of the water system in the central axis. First, the scheme uses elevated buildings to increase public space. A sky-link then enhances the connection between the two sides of the water system. The two towers are arranged on either side of the water system, inheriting the central axis relationship. However, instead of a symmetrical arrangement, they are staggered to enhance the permeability of the views.
Hongdao Transportation Business District, as the core transportation gateway of the region, will be built into a new industrial city led by the high-speed railway hub in the future. The Hongdao Line Operations Control Centre project, is located on the central axis of the regional core, close to the Hongdao High-Speed Rail Station, and will be the core of the development of the area in the future, leading to the synergistic development of the surrounding areas. The traditional control centre design makes it difficult to assume the image of Hongdao as a central landmark. It fails to interact organically with the surrounding areas, such as the water system and public space. The design takes the shape of the mountains and the sea, shapes the way of access and integrates the soul of a culture, using all kinds of connections through time and space to create the urban landmark of Qingdao Metro in the context of the ocean strategy. The cultural connection, inherited from the millennium-old Jiaodong fishing and salt culture, is the earliest connection between people, the mountains, and the sea in this land. The city's connection is the flowing train that connects this city of mountains and seas to everyone who lives here. The connection of the world, through the sea, to the sea, and through the gathering of innovation to connect with the world more possibilities.
The form of the building also better reflects the character of the urban landmark. The main building is designed as a retreat to provide a bird's eye view of the garden, creating a sense of freedom of space. The volume of the building is also reduced to create a pleasant spatial scale. The curved shape of the building resembles a mountain peak entering the sea, which is both dynamic and stable.
The façade of the building also incorporates the features of Qingdao and the metro. The vertical division of the curtain wall extracts elements of the metro track, and the curtain wall is staggered up and down in a folded shape derived from the structure of a fishing net. The simplicity of the façade, without compromising on detail, gives the building a more dynamic form.
